Cricket Hill

An extensive remodel and addition to a mid-century residence located on the Hillside of Lafayette, California.

Despite the remarkable architectural character of this existing single-family home, the interior layout was lacking definition and the function of a more contemporary way of living. While the envelope of the house remains untouched, the new open kitchen is now the pivoting space and passage point from the South wing - with its spectacular vaulted Foyer/Living/Dining area, a guest bedroom and a new powder and laundry room - to the more private Northern wing with the kid’s bedrooms and family room. This new layout offers a more seamless flow between the different areas of the main residence

The existing attached garage located to the West of the main vaulted space is now receiving the new Primary Suite and its deck facing the pool. Large sliders and windows are added throughout the house to create a greater indoor-outdoor connection from the interior to the lush Hillside landscape and the pool area.

Part of the 4-car detached garage at the South of the property is being converted into a new A.D.U. with a fully-equipped flexible living unit and a mezzanine with a Home Office overlooking on one side the double-height living space, and the lush hillside landscape on the other.
